SCImago Journal Rank

Since 2009, SCImago Journal Rank annually publishes the ranking of 5000 top universities and research institutions of the world in three sections of research, innovation, and website. This ranking system evaluates and ranks universities based on research performance and in the form of articles indexed in valid international journals. The data collection sources of the system include Elsevier Publishing Co., the Scopus Citation Database, Scimago Journal & Country Rank, the European Patent Database, and questionnaires filled by the universities. The indicators used in this system are, as follows:

Research

1. Output: The number of documents produced by the institution or university indexed in the Scopus database (8%)

2. International collaboration: the number of collaborations between researchers affiliated with the university or institution and researchers from other countries (2%)

3. Normalized effect: mean number of normalized citations based on the subject area (13%)

4. High quality of scientific production: articles published in high-impact and high-quality journals. These journals are ranked in the first quarter (25%) based on the SCImago Journal Rank (2%)

5. Superiority: university articles which are among the first 10% of the subject area (2%)

6. Scientific leadership: articles compiled by corresponding authors affiliated with the university (5%)

7. Scientific superiority and leadership: articles that are among the top 10% of their subject area and their corresponding authors are affiliated with the relevant university (13%)

8. Scientific talents: number of authors of the article in a specific period (5%)

Innovation

9. Innovative knowledge: the number of scientific publications referred to in patent registration licenses (25%)

10. Effect of technology: percentage of scientific production cited in patent registration licenses (5%)

Website

11. Website size: number of pages affiliated with the url of universities based on google results (15%)

12. Links to the university domain: the number of external links to the domain of the university's website (5%)
